In the heart of the Laurentians nestled between Val-David and Saint-Agathe, our picturesque Swiss style chalets made of wood are located in a mountainous area well known for its breathtaking views of Lac à la Truite and the surrounding mountains.

Our guests can take advantage of the beautiful large private beach on Lac à la Truite and boat rentals such as pedalos, kayaks, canoes and rowboats. Bring your fishing rods if you want to catch some fish! Guests can also enjoy the outside heated pool and tennis court located higher up in the mountain (about 1 km from the beach). Also available are relaxing spa treatments from one of our certified massage therapists that can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own chalet.

Our History

Chalets Lac à la Truite is located in St-Agathe on some of the most beautiful property in the Laurentians called Chanteclair. Waldemar Gentemann, a European businessman, founded Chanteclair in 1965. Gentemann was drawn by the mountains, lakes and the fresh air of the Laurentians.

He had found his dream mountains in St-Agathe spread over more than 1,000 acres and located on the edge of Lac à la Truite.

Lac à la Truite

This area reminded him so much of Germany and Switzerland. He had a vision to build a village that resembled a little German or Swiss mountain village. While developing roads, subdividing land and incorporating a water system, Gentemann was also busy selling land lots and building Swiss style chalets. His development quickly became a reality and a huge success. Today there are almost 400 chalets within the mountains and valleys of Chanteclair where Gentemann and his daughter Diana also own and operate Chalets Lac à la Truite, a resort and business at which they’ve become experts for over three decades.
